Tenno Zakura cherry tree
Tenno-zakura (designated as a special natural treasure of Gunma Prefecture) is a big wild cherry tree with a trunk circumference of 6 meters and a branch width of 17 meters. It is estimated to be over 300 years old. The name ‘Tenno Zakura’ is originated from the god of syncretism of kami and buddhas enshrined at the root. (Best time to see: Late Apr. through Early May)
