‘Mt. Hotaka’, a famous mountain for ascetic training

The mountain has been known as the object of the mountain worship since ancient times. The mountain summit with a stature of Yamato Takeru no Mikoto offers a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountains such as Mt. Shibutsu and Mt. Nikko-Shirane.

Katashina Hotaka Bokujo Camping Ground is located at the foot of Mt. Hotaka. You can enjoy camping and trekking in the beautiful natural scenery around you.

Renge azalea (designated as a special natural treasure of Gunma Prefecture)

A beautiful red field of about 15,000 Renge azalea (designated as a special natural treasure of Gunma Prefecture) can be viewed from mid to late June.

Oze is designated as the Special Protection Zone of Oze National Park as well as the Special Natural Monument of Japan and the Ramsar wetland site. You will find the spectacular unspoiled beauty and serenity of the spectacular natural wilderness such as Ozegahara, the largest highland marsh on the main island of Japan and Ozenuma formed from a river blocked by eruptions and a rock-slide from Mt. Hiuchigatake.

Marunuma Kogen area boasts two beautiful lakeside areas (Lake Suganuma and lake Marunuma) Viewing is good but the abundant nature of Katashina is best enjoyed through hands-on experiences!
