The name of Glaucidium palmatum is said to originate from Mt. Nikko-Shirane. The plant is also known as the queen of wild grasses and flowers. The plant is peculiar to Japan with a single species of one genus and one family. The beautiful landscape can be enjoyed from ‘Mt. Nikko-Shirane Rock Garden’, located at the mountain top station of the Mt. Nikko-Shirane ropeway. (Best time to see: Early to Late June.)
