Mt. Hotaka

The mountain has been known as the object of the mountain worship since ancient times. The mountain summit with a stature of Yamato Takeru no Mikoto offers a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountains such as Mt. Shibutsu and Mt. Nikko-Shirane. Katashina Hotaka Bokujo Camping Ground is located at its foot. You can enjoy camping and trekking in the surrounding natural scenery and what’s more, a beautiful red field of about 15,000 Renge azaleas (designated as a special natural treasure of Gunma Prefecture) can be viewed from mid to late June.
