Even in summer, really cold water gushes out incessantly. The source of this spring water is located just behind this water facility. This pure water is drawn directly from the source.

History

Misanori used to be written as 御座野入 and is the 29th Fudasho (temples that issue sacred amulets) of the Kannnon Fudasho Numata Yokodo 33 in Joshu (Kozuke Province). The upper-right shrine standing halfway up the mountain in the background embodies part of the history of the village. Climbing up the mountain will lead you to a stone monument in front of the shrine that seems rebuilt recently. On the monument, a Buddhist hymn is inscribed that reads as follows:

「満以りき定
 以まそあら多に 美さの入
 山乃奥にも
 ありあけの月」

It seems to mean that

pilgrims visited many Fudasho temples and now came to (entered) Miza.

The hymn suggests not only the derivation of the name of this area, but also the life history of many unknown people who lived here.

Village People's Project

This water supply facility was built by donations of the community people, whose names are written in the thatched roof.
People of Mizanori clean the area once a month, even during snow-covered winter as shown in a photo on the left. ("Water supply facility cleaning activity" photographed by Yasushi Shimizu)
