While this place is located above the Megumi of Hotaka, the easier way to reach here is just to use the signs for the Hanasaku family-operated bed and breakfast village as landmarks and follow them.
It is located along the road to the pension village and the Oguna Hotaka ski resort.

History

As there are legends in Hotaka, Hanasaku also has legends. An example legend excerpted from a book entitled Picture Book on the Legends of Oze goes as follows:

There used to be a thief called Oze who lived deep in the mountains near Oze. He often came down to the village and did bad things. While Yamato Takeru killed the thief, his wife and daughters ran away toward Tsuchiide Village. However, as they were blocked by a huge mountain, they died on a hill on the way to the village. Their grieving souls remained there and their bodies finally turned into stones. Each year, small flowers came out of the stones of the daughters. Local people called the stones Hanasaku Ishi and built a small shrine called Hanasaku Ishi Myojin there to appease the daughters' souls.

Village People's Project

This intake was also set up with the help of local people centering on Mr. Norio Hoshino. While he launched his own business in a city, he made donations to the village many times out of his strong love for the village. A signboard and a slate monument placed there show his love for the village.

There are a family-operated bed and breakfast village and a pension village in the Hanasaku district, which are used as lodging facilities of the Snowpal Oguna Hotaka during winter. Some bed and breakfasts and pensions are equipped with tennis courts and a football ground that are used for training camps of schools and club teams during summer.

The clear and crisp air of the plateau 850 to 900 meters above sea level freshens up people mentally and physically.
